Purpose of the Project

The project will be constructed in Lynnhaven Park adjacent to Bayne Drive. The constructed wetlands will treat stormwater from the roadway, the Lynnhaven Middle School, and other adjacent areas.

• Improve water quality of the Lynnhaven River.
• Support beneficial uses of our local waterway like swimming and fishing.

How the Project Improves Water Quality

The project will install a constructed wetlands stormwater management facility. This facility will include features that have been determined effectively remove sediment and nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen from stormwater. 

The facility will also provide other ecological benefits for wildlife by providing them a habitat. The project will install a variety of native flowering wetland species.

• Forebays and a main pool area will remove sediment from stormwater.
• Wetland plants remove nutrients through natural processes.
