Closure Notice

From August 2026 through early spring 2027, Cape Henry Drive and the adjacent trail will be closed between Kleen Street and Urchin Road for water, sewer and stormwater upgrades, plus canal widening and deepening.

  • Access for residents and businesses will continue
  • Trash pickup, mail and emergency services will continue without interruption
  • Detours will be in place for drivers and pedestrians  

Project Status and Funding Source

  • Ryan Construction Company was issued a Notice to Proceed effective June 15, 2026.
  • The contractor will be breaking ground in August at both pump stations and along the Cape Henry Canal.
  • This project is funded by CIPs 100538,100167, 100150, 100153, and 100598.
