Project Status and Funding Source

As of July 2025, work along Sea Street has been completed and the contractor is making progress on S. Birdneck Road.

This project is funded by CIP 100600 and was awarded a Community Flood Preparedness Fund Grant.

This project includes design, property acquisition, and construction of approximately 800 linear feet of 48-inch storm sewer pipe along South Birdneck Road, between Jackson Street and Sea Street. These pipes would replace the existing 24-inch and 30-inch pipes that currently collect runoff along South Birdneck Road and from the Seatack neighborhood.

About 665 linear feet of 48-inch storm drainpipe is proposed to replace the existing 36-inch pipe along Jackson Street to provide additional capacity to the stormwater system along South Birdneck Road to mitigate existing flooding conditions in the Seatack Neighborhood.

In addition, cost-sharing agreements have been coordinated with the Stormwater Management Regulatory Division within Public Works Engineering and the Department of Public Utilities to include the following work:

  • Installation of a manufactured treatment device (MTD) near the outfall at Jackson Street.
  • Select water and sewer replacements.
