Project Status and Funding Source

This project was completed in December 2024. This project was co-funded by Public Works and Public Utilities with CIPs 100486, 100561, and 100563.

Project Scope

This project replaced storm drain piping, with additional, larger drainage inlets, and water distribution pipes along Old Forge Court, Old Forge Road to Red Lion Road, and along Red Lion Road to the Windsor Woods Canal. Sanitary sewer improvements along Old Forge Court were also included.

New storm drain outfalls were placed into the Windsor Woods Canal at Red Lion Road. The new pipe is an elliptical pipe (91-inch x 58-inch), which is equivalent to a 72-inch circular pipe. This pipe replaces an older, undersized 27-inch drainage pipe. This increased pipe size has additional capacity to convey storm volumes and reduce roadway flooding. A trench support box was installed and wood framing to cast-in-place a new storm catch basin to replace an aged storm structure on Old Forge Road near Red Lion Road.

These new drainage systems, in conjunction with the Windsor Woods Tide Gate along Thalia Creek, the future stormwater pump station and regular maintenance, will assist in mitigating the flooding in Windsor Woods.
