Project Status and Funding Source

As of August 2025, construction is underway with anticipated completion by the end of the year.

This project is funded by CIP 100488.

Project Scope

This is the first of the three tide gates that will assist in reducing tidal impacts and provide critical stormwater storage needed to mitigate flooding in Windsor Woods, Princess Anne Plaza, and The Lakes. The tide gate (which consists of four individual gates/gate bays) will close during storms to prevent flooding in Windsor Woods from downstream high tides and storm surges.

The project also includes interim stormwater pumps to help reduce flooding from upstream areas due to extreme rainfall and assist in managing the stormwater. These interim pumps have a capacity of 50 cubic feet per second (50 cfs) and will ultimately be replaced by the future permanent Windsor Woods Pump Station (with 750 cfs pumping capacity).

Park Impacts and Awareness

  • Work is being coordinated with Mount Trashmore Park Representatives to minimize disruption to Park activities.
  • Most of the construction activity will occur within Thalia Creek/Lake Windsor and the existing peninsula.
  • Contractor is utilizing a portion of the existing parking lot on the west side of Thalia Creek for staging/laydown.
  • No impacts to the park entrance, skate park, or playground are anticipated.
